Emergency First Aid at Work Forestry Course

Our ITC Level 3 Award in + F Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW+F, Forestry Course) is ideal for most businesses or individuals who are required to work or have access to Forestry & Land Scotland, Forestry England or Forestry Commission ground or remote areas and hazardous environments. Employers have to risk assess their workplace first aid requirements and this one-day +F Emergency First Aid at Work qualification meets the standards set out in the Forestry Commission First Aid Guidance PPG 59 and Forestry and Land Scotland policy – First Aid at Work V6, October 2015.

Course Content:

Topics Include:

  • Roles & Responsibilities of a First Aider
  • Incident Assessment – scene safety & accident procedure
  • Management of a casualty (breathing and non-breathing)
  • Safe Airway positions – included environmental factors: slopes, temperature, wind direction and strong sunlight
  • Actions when assistance is more than 30 minutes away
  • CPR
  • Use of an AED
  • Assisting a Casualty who is choking
  • Management of a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
  • Management of a casualty who is in shock
  • Management of a casualty suffering from a seizure
  • How to manage a casualty with a minor workplace injury                                                                                               


Additional First Aid + F Content:

1. Life  threatening bleeding (i.e. chainsaw injury) – use of haemostatic dressings, tourniquets, improvised wound packing and improvised tourniquets
2. Crush injury
3. Hypothermia
4. Lymes Disease​

The course has a 7.5 hours contact time and is run over a minimum of 1 day. The certificate is valid for 3 years. To renew, you need to attend another EFAW+F, 7.5-hour course.
